Say this could be us, even if it’s only for a moment.
This piece is based on a bit of street photography I did last year in Montmartre, Paris. I was visiting a good friend and taking in every detail of the city. As we were waiting to cross a street, this couple from across the street made eye contact with me. Seeing the camera in my hand, they smiled signaling me to take a picture. I fiddled with my camera settings, and just as I took the picture, she reached over to plant a kiss. The dim evening light meant that she was a complete blur in the picture. And suddenly, she felt more like an idea than a specific person. And I knew right away that I would sketch that moment when I found the time.
